Notice of Finding No Significant Impact
Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport (SHD)
Augusta County, Virginia

Notice is hereby given that the Federal Aviation Administration has issued a “Finding of No Significant Impact” (FONSI) based upon the results of an Environmental Assessment (EA) for “Aviation Technology Park Facility Development” which was finalized in May 2024.  The Proposed Action includes hangars, aprons, connector taxiways, automobile parking, access roads, fencing, fuel truck parking, and realignment of an existing interior road. The purpose of the project is to provide airfield infrastructure to accommodate current and future operational demand, enhance safety, and enhance customer service at SHD.

The FONSI indicates that the Proposed Action is consistent with existing environmental policies and objectives as set forth in the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 in that it will not significantly affect the quality of the human environment.

Copies of the FONSI and final EA are available for public review for 30 days beginning June 6, 2024 through July 6, 2024.

Notice of Availability – Draft Environmental Assessment

The Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport Commission, owner and operator of the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport (SHD), proposes “Aviation Technology Park Facility Development” on the airfield, in accordance with the approved Airport Layout Plan.  The development includes hangars, aprons, connector taxiways, automobile parking, access roads, fencing, fuel truck parking, and realignment of an existing interior road. The purpose of the project is to provide airfield infrastructure to accommodate current and future operational demand, enhance safety, and enhance customer service at SHD.

A Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared to examine the environmental consequences of the proposed project.  The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is the lead agency under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

Comments received will be reviewed and addressed in the Final EA, as appropriate.  Written comments to the EA may be submitted within 30 days of this notice via email to: publiccomment@deltaairport.com or by mail to: Delta Airport Consultants, Inc., 2700 Polo Parkway, Midlothian, VA 23113, RE: SHD Draft E.A.  Comments on the Draft EA must be received no later than 5:00 pm, April 3, 2024.
